Keeping your product recognisable in an AI video

Review an AI product video against the real product, frame by frame where needed. A convincing scene can still contain a wrong label, changing shape or an action that misrepresents how the product is used.

Make a small reference pack

Include clear photos from the angles that matter, a close-up of the label and an example of correct use. Add the approved logo and any packaging artwork. Give the production team one current source for these assets so older versions do not drift into the edit.

List the features that cannot change. That might be the number of buttons, a distinctive silhouette or the material finish. For food, it includes how the product is prepared and eaten. For machinery, it includes the equipment’s construction and believable movement.

Separate the product from the imagined world

A surreal setting can be part of the idea while the product remains precise. Decide which parts of a shot can be invented and which need to stay faithful to approved references.

Some shots may be better built around existing photography or footage. A close-up with small packaging text is a different production problem from a distant atmospheric scene. Choose the method for each shot rather than forcing every element through the same process.

Review these five details

  • Shape: does the product remain the same across shots?
  • Text: are the brand, labels and on-screen words exact and readable?
  • Use: do people handle, prepare or operate it correctly?
  • Continuity: do colours, parts, props and hands remain consistent?
  • Claims: does the scene imply a benefit or capability the product does not have?

Check the final formats too

Watch the exported portrait and landscape versions separately. A crop can cut off the product name or make an important action hard to understand. Check the actual file on a phone, including the first frame and final call to action.

Collect feedback in one list with timestamps and a reference image where useful. Specific feedback such as “the label changes at 00:07” is easier to act on than “the product feels different.” Agree corrections before approving the final version.
